Things to Do

Family Fun

It’s easy to put a smile on your child’s face in the Comox Valley.  Families will find plenty to keep them occupied here year-round, both indoors and out.  In fact there is so much to do here, you may have to stay an extra few days – or start planning another visit!  Hey kids – don’t forget to bring your parents.

Family Fun

Blowing Bubbles
Visit the tidal weirs, rivers, lakes and vibrant oceanside to become awash in Comox Valley eco-culture.

Explore a replica coal mine or learn about our prehistoric past by taking a field trip with the Courtenay Museum to dig for fossils.  Check out our local rec centres offering year round kids programs including sailing, camping, art classes, theatre, climbing, dance, martial arts and more!

Head for the hills - Mount Washington's summer activities include scenic chairlift rides, bungy trampoline, mini and disc golf; and Winter activities include alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.  Or bring your own toboggan and hit the “little hills”.   Talk to the animals at petting farms at Filberg Park and Seaview Game Farm.  Explore area parks and trails including Paradise Meadows @ Strathcona Park, BC’s oldest Provincial Park where you can feed the Whisky Jacks.

Make a splash at our local wave pool or run through twisting sprinklers at a water park on a hot summer day.  Explore Miracle Beach Provincial Park and stop for ice-cream, play a round of mini-golf, or go go-carting while in the area.  Safe stretches of sandy beaches are perfect for exploring tidal pools or building sandcastles between refreshing dips in the ocean.  Try Miracle Beach, Kye Bay, Goose Spit or Tribune Bay.

Area festivals have special kids zones including Filberg Festival, Vancouver Island Music Fest, Nautical Days, and Canada Day Celebrations and our annual KidsFest in early September is dedicated solely to the little ones.
