Things to Do

Alpine

The Comox Valley is the place to be for the cultural eco-alpine enthusiast, featuring stunning views from the mountains that you won't want to miss. From world-class skiing to cultural alpine music concerts and cultural activities in pristine natural environments, the alpine defines eco-living here.  Crystal clear viewscapes of the Comox Valley and mainland Coast Range, masses of brilliant alpine wildflowers and high mountain lakes and glaciers are just a few of the sights you can see when taking the chance to visit the alpine.

Forbidden Plateau Recreation Area offers a variety of hiking and mountain biking trails and direct access to the wild side of Strathcona Park. From here you can pursue two or three day hikes to Mount Becher, Mount Drabble, Indian Head Mountain and the Comox Glacier all within the parks boundaries. Contact one of our local outfitters or mountain guides to get the details on routes, supplies, and safety or to arrange a guided adventure before heading into the backcountry.

The vast wilderness of Strathcona Provincial Park can also be accessed through Paradise Meadows on the way to Mount Washington Alpine Resort. Well-groomed trails and awe-inspiring views abound at Mount Washington. In the summer months the resort offers scenic chairlift rides to the summit where you can take in the breathtaking views of Mount Albert Edward and the Strait of Georgia. Other summer activities on the mountain include biking, disc golf, bungee trampoline, mini golf, and special events including Wine, Beer, and Alpine Food Festivals and mountainbike competitions.

Skiing Mount Washington
