Explore the alpine meadows of Strathcona Provincial Park, go spelunking in the Horne Lake Caves, whale watch out of Telegraph Cove or visit First Nations communities and historic town sites. All of these adventures are just a short drive away.

Day Trips

To the North of the Comox Valley is Campbell River where Elk Falls Mill offers tours to the public. Visit the local museums and galleries and enjoy the ocean-side walkways. Head west from Campbell River through Strathcona Provincial Park and visit Gold River on the shores of Nootka Sound.

South of the Comox Valley are the Oceanside communities of Qualicum Beach and Parkville, renown for sandy beaches and summer fun. Visit the Coombs Country Market, famous for their miniature goats on the roof, and enjoy amazing baked goods, a deli and import food section as well as a great restaurant. Kids of all ages will love a trip to Butterfly World and numerous other unique shops and restaurants makes Coombs a one of a kind destination.

West of Coombs is the highway to Port Alberni and the Pacific Rim. Enjoy this scenic drive and visit Cathedral Grove where ancient forests reach to the sky.

Further south, the City of Nanaimo offers a terrific day trip destination. This City is popular with boaters and divers alike and the 4 km Harbourside Walkway is a great scenic adventure. Take the passenger ferry to historic Newcastle Island Provincial Park and discover the diverse network of walking trails.

Hornby and Denman Island are also great day-trip destinations. Enjoy hiking or riding through Boyle and Fillongley Provincial Parks on Denman Island or visit the windswept Arbutus and Cedars of Helliwell Provincial Park on Hornby Island. Stop by the quaint shops and galleries or book a night in a charming B&B.

A one hour and 20 minute BC Ferries ride across the Straight from Comox takes you to Powell River on the mainland. Visit the historic town sites or enjoy the Marine Ave area which is readily accessible to foot passengers.

The Comox Valley is the perfect starting place for exciting day-trips and adventures!
