The Comox Valley Stay and Play campaign and contest that has been running in the Times Colonist since early February and is continuing until the end of this month, will now reach a larger audience as it expands to include television.  86 x 30 second spots will air on Chek TV until the end of March promoting the contest and the destination.  Check out the spots running throughout the day from Wednesday to Saturday until the end of this month on CHEK TV.

Olympic Familiarization Tours Visit the Comox Valley

As part of the Valley’s Olympic strategy, the area hosted two Olympic media familiarization tours this past month.

Seven major newspaper and television outlets from France visited the areas tourism, aquaculture and First Nations attractions to learn about the region in context to it being the location for Frances’ 2010 Olympic cross country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding, freestyle skiing and skier cross teams to train.

This past week the Valley has hosted a four person Ukraine International Paralympic Committee media crew who were here to capture the IPC World Cup event on Mount Washington as well as the areas tourism and industry sectors. The Ukraine Biathlon team has also chosen the Valley as is pre-2010 team training destination.

2008 Vancouver Island Visitor Exit Survey

 

The 2008 Tourism Vancouver Island Visitor Exit Survey was designed to gather data on the motivation and travel experience of the tourism markets visiting the Vancouver Island Region from off-Island. The results will assist the tourism industry by identifying: 1) Where visitors are visiting from, 2) Primary motivation of visitors, 3) Information sources used to plan visit, 4) Most popular sub-regions visited, 5) The likelihood of repeat visits and 6) Anecdotal comments from visitors to the Region.
