  Performance celebrating Multiculturalism, in celebration of the Cultural Capital of Canada designation.

Music can be enjoyed almost any weekend all over the Comox Valley. From free outdoor music events at the Rotary Centennial Pavilion at Simms Park to the Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park, enjoying live music is a year-round activity for many members of the Comox Valley. An eclectic selection of jazz, folk, blues, international, rock and other music are presented on a regular basis and in a variety of intimate and innovative performing venues.

Theatre

The Comox Valley boasts a vibrant theatre going culture.  There are a number of amateur theatre groups as well as a professional theatre association creating performances for audiences year round.  Look for productions from Courtenay Little Theatre, Rainbow Theatre, Theatreworks as well as Showcase Theatre Festival at the Sid Williams Civic Theatre, as well as many other venues in the Comox Valley.

  The I-Hos Arts Festival, Cultural Capital of Canada celebration was hosted by the K’omoks First Nation.

Dance

There are a number of local performance and dance groups that put on performances throughout the year in a variety of locations.  Look for traditional ballet, jazz, Highland, or even Ukrainian dance during festivals or in special performances.  Additionally, the K’omoks First Nation, showcase their traditional dance techniques at a variety of opportunities during the calendar year.

 

Venues

The civic facilities of the Comox Valley all provide excellent amenities and are perfect for conferences, sporting events, gala dinners, wedding, reunions and meetings. The popular Sid Williams Civic Theatre, located in Downtown Courtenay, has 550 seats, a balcony section, a kids' quiet room and services for the hearing impaired. The stage at the "Sid" features a variety of top-notch community performers as well as internationally-acclaimed entertainers. Other local venues include renovated heritage churches such as the Old Church Theatre in Courtenay. Most venues are conveniently located close to shopping, restaurants and other cultural and recreation facilities.
