K'ómox First Nations

The Comox First Nation band offices, traditional Big House, residences, community hall and art gallery are located along Comox Road between the mouth of the Courtenay River and the northern side of Comox Harbour. The Comox First Nation people were classified culturally as 'Northern Coast Salish'. The name Comox means "place of abundance."

The Comox First Nations economy has traditionally relied on fishing and forestry. Today, innovative economic initiatives focus on tourism and natural resources, weaving past and present into a strong economic future for the Comox people. These initiatives include the I-Hos Gallery, Pentlatch Seafoods and the Puntledge RV Campground and Nim Nim Interpretive Centre on the Puntledge River.
